Student Opportunities
The Just Transformations to Sustainability Initiative offers Notre Dame students the space to critically reflect on integral ecology as a sustainability framework that not only informs the future at Notre Dame, but also students' actions in their communities beyond their time at the University. Community engagement and campus partnerships are the main pillars in creating this ecosystem, with students a crucial element. Centered around this relationship-building, our student programming includes social opportunities for fellowship and discussion, internship opportunities, interdisciplinary research, and experiential learning. Sustainability in Action Fellowships
The JTS Initiative aims to cultivate and support a growing network of Notre Dame students dedicated to building a more just and sustainable world both during their time at Notre Dame and through their future careers. To advance this goal, JTS invites applications from undergraduate students across all disciplines who plan to engage in sustainability-focused research, service, or a professional internship during Summer 2026.
Student Internships
We are seeking driven, detail-oriented students passionate about translating sustainability research and education into transformative global action. Drawing inspiration from Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, the JTS Initiative advances a distinctive model of sustainability rooted in hope, justice, and connection. Through leading-edge research, holistic education, and equitable partnership, we catalyze transformative change grounded in the best available science and foundational ideas of integral ecology. Student interns will join a collaborative, dynamic, and fast-paced team to help coordinate campus activities and grow key programs.
Castel Gandolfo Summer: Integral ecology at the Borgo Laudato si'
A new course, co-taught by Just Transformations to Sustainability Director Arun Agrawal and Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education Fr. Dan Groody, C.S.C., offers students both classroom and hands-on learning at the Borgo Laudato si’, an educational center established by Pope Francis that demonstrates how the principles of Laudato si’ can become a reality.
2025 Sustainability Summer Interns
