The Just Transformations to Sustainability Initiative seeks to cultivate a vibrant and collaborative research and action community at the University of Notre Dame that formulates and pursues innovative research, uses appropriate methods, and aims to identify, validate, and scale practices and policies for human flourishing in harmony with nature. We anchor our research efforts in long-term, action-oriented partnerships across communities and regions to ensure our work achieves tangible and lasting benefits for scholars and students, for policymakers and practitioners, and for communities around the world.
Nurturing Excellence in Sustainability at ND
The Nurturing Excellence in Sustainability at Notre Dame Program funds cross-disciplinary teams of Notre Dame faculty to advance leading-edge, solutions-focused sustainability research; establish and grow long-term, place-based partnerships; and create hands-on training opportunities for Notre Dame students and younger researchers.
Integrated Responses to Climate and Biodiversity Change
As part of a larger international effort, Notre Dame's Just Transformations to Sustainability Initiative and Michigan's Institute for Global Change Biology are partnering to create and support interdisciplinary teams focused on interactions between biodiversity and climate change.
Midwest Sustainability Platform for Research and Curricular Innovation
The Midwest Sustainability Platform for Research and Curricular Innovation brings together sustainability scholars and leaders from universities across the Midwest to address key sustainability challenges facing the region. Its goals are to advance collaborative research; drive curricular innovation; and build partnerships with policymakers, businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
