Location: 102 DeBartolo Hall (View on map )

Collage poster for "Join or Die" features a man speaking into a megaphone. Historical photos, an American flag, classical ruins, and film festival laurels surround these elements.
The Notre Dame Democracy Initiative will host a viewing of the documentary "Join or Die," which examines social scientist Robert Putnam's "Bowling Alone" theory of how declining community engagement created an American civic crisis.

This free event is open to the public and the Notre Dame community.

The Democracy Initiative aims to foster a campuswide call for public service and responsible citizenship. The signature event series “Democracy Talks” offers accessible and engaging opportunities for all students and members of the Notre Dame community to better understand current events and pressing policy issues. These talks are often in partnership with campus centers and institutes and elevate experts from the Notre Dame faculty as well as practitioners and policymakers.
